Principal Architect


Principal Architect – focus Commerce or CMS (m/f)

For our office in Milan

At DigitasLBi Milan we create digital experiences for some of the world’s most interesting brands. To help us do it, we need a Principal Architect will oversee the development, design, user interface, technology integration, and site architecture for eCommerce or Content Management development projects. This role will be responsible for managing technology teams from definition phase through implementation, as well as contribute to the sales cycle.

Your Key Responsibilities

    Architecture definition and technical leadership of the whole lifecycle starting with presales to implementation of CMS- or commerce projects for example Adobe Experience Manager, Salesforce Commerce Cloud (Demandware), Oracle Commerce, Hybris or IBM WebSphere Commerce

    Serve as a technical advisor and problem solver to clients and partners to assist them in optimising their use of the particular Commerce product suite to successfully define, build and deploy online commerce and self service applications

    Estimate time frames, quality and quantity of resources required to successfully implement project; develop project plan incorporating all project variables including risk

    Establish measurable criteria concerning deliverability, performance, maintenance, design and costs

    Lead the translation of the client’s business requirements into systems design

    Work with the client's IT organisation to establish technology strategy at an application level

    Establish high, mid and micro level plans and set technical direction for a team of up to 30 people

    An ability to act as a mentor to other technical staff is critical.

    Prepare elements of sales proposals to represent Sapient's technical expertise

    In addition to working on billable client engagements, may also assist as needed on pre-sales opportunities such as RFP responses, proposal delivery, architecture assessments, and technical qualifications

Experience Guidelines

    Bachelor’s degree required and degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

    8+ years in systems integration and development, package implementation, and/or interactive design

    Extensive project experience with architecture development, integration of backend systems and development of specific client requirements with WCM/ECM (e.g. Adobe Experience Manager), eCommerce (e.g. Salesforce Commerce Cloud/Demandware, Oracle Commerce, Hybris, or IBM WebSphere Commerce)

    Expert proficiency in Java, OO Application Development, under UNIX or NT is required

    Knowledge of multiple other technologies including but not limited to CGI, HTML, DHTML, XML, JavaScript, PL/SQL, Oracle Developer 2000 tools, C/C++, Perl, TCL, RDBMS, CORBA, COM is a plus

    Requires a strong understanding of complex computer science and software engineering principles

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills, are essential.

    Fluent in English and Italian.
