Devotion Storify

Global marketing and technology agency DigitasLBi invited the industry to its Brick Lane home last night for Devotion, the latest iteration of its famous Rave.

The event was conceived and produced in partnership with branding, strategic and experiential agency C&IB.

More than 1,000 people gathered at the Old Truman Brewery to celebrate the creativity, drive and unruliness that makes our industry so great. The pagan-inspired party enabled guests to cleanse themselves of mediocrity, make sacrifices to the gods of creative inspiration and worship the Cult of the Unicorn.

Guests at the party started the evening with a devotional experience where they were invited to make confessions and offer up mediocre creative work as a sacrifice in exchange for rewards.

Attendees then headed to the House of the Unicorn which featured a cocktail-making installation called the Faithful Muse – a monument to alcoholic creativity and inspiration.

After entering the basement at DigitasLBi, members of the Cult of the Unicorn enjoyed a live performance by psychedelic rockers Swim Deep and sets from DJs Kode9 and Work It.

The night also featured a secret Lazerdome (a geodesic laser rave dome conceived and built by mad scientists) accompanied by a DJ set by Oliver Munts and Subpac backpacks containing tactile audio technology.

Snapchat provided a bespoke Devotion-themed Snapchat filter for the night.

Devotion was supported by sponsors Sitecore, Digital Pride and MorphCostumes, with the latter offering discounted costumes to partygoers. Guests also helped to raise funds for charity partner Refugee Council.

Chris Clarke, Chief Creative Officer, International at DigitasLBi said: “Creativity, meaning and fun are under siege in our industry. Devotion is our response. Last night was a statement of intent. Talent and creativity are the key. You can see it in the data!”
