Did you know that nearly 60 % of Indian consumers look for others’ opinions before making purchase decisions. The Hindu Business Line gives a glimpse into the latest retail trends provided by the DigitasLBi’s global Connected Commerce survey

This is the age of instant gratification and impatience is a virtue. So it should be no surprise that 18 per cent of shoppers worldwide expect products bought online to be delivered within one day. A Connected Commerce survey by global marketing and technology agency DigitasLBi reveals that consumers from the Netherlands are the most impatient, with 38 per cent expecting delivery within a day, while just 7 per cent of Danish customers have such expectations. In India, 29.8 per cent of shoppers expect items they have bought to be delivered in one day.

Seventy-eight per cent of online shoppers globally look for other shoppers’ opinions online before making a purchase. This behaviour is most prevalent in Asia, with consumers in China, Hong Kong, India and Singapore most likely to look for opinions before buying. Over 57 per cent of shoppers in India consult friends and family before making a purchase. German consumers are the most likely to take note of the opinions of their friends and family (44 per cent) while Italians are the least likely to (22 per cent).

The study reveals the latest retail trends in 15 countries: Australia, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the US. Developed and led by DigitasLBi in France, the study focuses on the behaviour of consumers who have bought something online 30 days prior and also includes insights gathered through DigitasLBi’s proprietary IDIOM data platform.
