System Engineer - Cloud / AWS


DigitasLBI’s Managed Services team provides hosting and application support services for many of our high-profile clients.

In a System Engineer (Cloud / AWS) we are looking for a smart, motivated individual with experience of supporting Linux and Windows environments with excellent problem-solving, team working and communications skills to join a growing platform support team.

To be a successful System Engineer you will need to demonstrate experience of supporting critical systems and workloads, whilst being flexible in your approach to managing priorities.

The role involves providing out-of-hours support for escalations on an on-call rota system with overtime rates.

As a System Engineer you will need a good knowledge of some or all of the following:

  • Windows and Linux OS, including PowerShell and Shell scripting
  • Enterprise eCommerce and CMS solutions like Hybris, EPiServer, Oracle WCS, AEM/CQ, Sitecore
  • Networking: Routing & switch configurations, Cisco Firewalls & Network Security, Load balancing, WAF
  • Web servers: Apache, IIS and Tomcat
  • Enterprise VMware
  • At least one of the following Public Cloud providers: AWS, Azure, GCP, OCP
  • Familiarity with CI/build management tooling such as Bamboo, or Jenkins
  • Configuration and automation tooling e.g. Chef, Puppet
  • Common database technologies: MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Mongo
  • Monitoring Tools: Xymon, Zabbix, CA, Datadog, New Relic, App Dynamics

In addition, the following would be beneficial:

  • Experience with the Atlassian suite, Confluence, JIRA, Crowd, Stash, or Bamboo
  • An understanding of Java and Java application servers
  • Experience in supporting an with design and build technology led projects
  • Practical knowledge of other web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

You should also demonstrate:

  • An understanding gathering requirements to support live production web sites for high-profile brands
  • Experience of working within a DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery ethos, including working closely with development and application management teams
  • A general enthusiasm for technology and a willingness to embrace and learn new systems / tools
